remains is to have a bite to eat and a bit of shuteye.
Having looked at the forecast in detail it seems that once again the boats just a few hours ahead will benefit from being at the right place for the wind! Having had gale force 8-9 for the last few days the wind has settled and we will leave with a 15 kt NW breeze. After a couple of days the area of high pressure will catch us up leaving us drifting. Unfortunatly as it comes in from behind those even a few hours ahead will benefit for more breeze for considerably longer!
Oh well you get what you get and make the most of it! Hopefully we should be able to keep our place on class on this leg but expect to drop a few overall. That said we will give it our best and hope to come up with a different result.
As you guy have access to the tracker and we don't, you will know before us! Send us some goodwind vibes and we'll do our best with what we get....
Start line 01:54. We are at last ready!
Good luck! Just checked those in front .... according to tracker their speeds seem to vary lots, several 10 - 11 knts, yet others nearby 5 - 7 knts. Not sure I understand that, but hey, aim for the windy bits!
ReplyDeletefrom mum---great blogging Sam,keeping us up to date. Sending those good vibes now, brilliant to hear that you are keeping positive and all's set to go. yep I probably know more than you of what is going on in the race with time to watch the trackers and read the blogs.
ReplyDeletegood to see that you are still racing and that the others havn't got away...apart from the Shed....bit of a misnomer that....
ReplyDeleteWell you seem to be going faster than most of the other boats so you must be doing something right! Sending some good luck your way- I don't think there is much else of the boat that can be broken!!
ReplyDeleteSpeak to you at next port of call xx
HAPPY FATHERS DAY. Hope you have had a good one! xx
ReplyDeleteI can see that you are within sniffing distance of Fastrack and Taika....keep up the pressure!
ReplyDeleteIts a bit addictive this race....better than the footie.
Good results so far guys! Your handicap is always a tough one but 8th overall and 4th in class so far are definitely respectable! Very well done! Just checked tracker and the Shed is off out in front but there are three of you bunched..although Taika and Fastrack are just ahead of you heading around 215 at 6-7 kts. Get those flying goggles on and lock on.. Still extreeeemely jealous of you both and will buy you a beer as soon as you get back.. Your may like to know Paradox made it into Lowestoft so not sure why she was down to 3kts earlier - she's flying - send my regards to Will! You may be interested to know Rob, Sofia, Tory and I's managed 204th overall and 24th class in the RTI on Sat! good ol Flight! Have a good one.. Roger out!
ReplyDeleteLooking good boyo's, loving the blogging, been following since the start but only just got an account to log in.
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty tight at the moment so good luck and keep pushing hard.
Got the boating version of a police stinger set up to take out Shed as they come through the Solent so consider them taken care of ;-)
Stay safe, see you both soon.
