Azores and Back Yacht Race 2011

After Sam White and Richard Raistricks efforts on the race to the Azores the race home will see Sam's first solo ocean race. The competion comprises some of the finest sailors in the UK and thanks to a great race here Sam is still well within sight of a podium finish. This is Yacht racing at its best and of course anything could happen in the next 1250 miles.

  3. What a finish! 6th overall is such a brilliant result for a first time, with no support team and just the two of you as only resource.
You deserve all the beer and all the sleep you can get. When you're back to Steyning (and you've had a shower...) come to the club and we'll get you more beer to celebrate!

    Amazing race and incredible achievement.
    Night night xxxxxxx

  4. Can't tell you how proud I am of you both. Evenings will not be the same now, getting on the computer (a bit obsessive I've been with it) to see where you are, reading your blog, it has made the last few weeks quite eventful. Last night I was jumping for joy when I saw your 6th placing overall. What a great achievement that is. Such a close run with your other 'class' mates you may not have got the 4th place your were chasing but you sure did give them a run for their money. Big question is, will you do it again in 4 years....!!! Roll on Cowes week, the White's are a force to contend with this year.... little Sis
