Azores and Back Yacht Race 2011

After Sam White and Richard Raistricks efforts on the race to the Azores the race home will see Sam's first solo ocean race. The competion comprises some of the finest sailors in the UK and thanks to a great race here Sam is still well within sight of a podium finish. This is Yacht racing at its best and of course anything could happen in the next 1250 miles.

The answer not coming as soon as we thought...

As we approached start point with good boatspeed it was all looking
good to make the pub before closing, unfortunatly the wind then dropped!
Along the south coast there are numerous tide gates that if caught
tide against will stop us dead for up to 6 hours. Portland bill was
one of them which sparked the decision to go offshore. Start point is
another. Those that get through will instantly get a 4-6 hour boost.
The guys in front of us have got through. Now the battle is on
together through ourselves.
At the moment it is not looking good!....
