Azores and Back Yacht Race 2011

After Sam White and Richard Raistricks efforts on the race to the Azores the race home will see Sam's first solo ocean race. The competion comprises some of the finest sailors in the UK and thanks to a great race here Sam is still well within sight of a podium finish. This is Yacht racing at its best and of course anything could happen in the next 1250 miles.

Catching up from the rear...

Or should I say being caught up from the rear!

The spinnaker went up at the start in a light NE breeze. Boat speed is
nothing to shout about but we are managing to make ground in the tide
against us. The tide is turning now so our groundspeed should start to
increase, that is if the wind holds up!
As expected the weather conditions are playing into Taika's hands.
They are creeping us on us and will overtake us before night fall but
if the forecast holds true and the wind goes around the west on sunday
we should be able to real him back in. So long as we don't let him
gain too much.

300 miles to go. Let's just see what happens....
