We have changed position today 5 or 6 times and now still have all to
play for! I cant believe the situation, 2000 miles of racing and yet
we are closer together than most boats during cowes week! (well almost!)
We were the first to tack out from swanage. At first tacking away from
the pack was a daunting move when we had worked so hard to get back in
the game, but to my delight the others all followed. Either they
agreed with our tactics or were not willing to risk letting us out of
sight just in case! Either way we have all headed offshore in the
search of less tide when it turns in 2 hours.
The wind is still as it was an hour ago but seemed to be decreasing
inshore- possibly a dying sea breeze?? Hopefully instead it is a
gradient wind stronger than forecast as I really don't fancy another
night with the anchor going up and down like a whores draws. (is that
PC??)
At the moment the early decision has paid off and we have benefited
from better boat speed than the others. Let's just see if we can keep
it!.....

from mum/kay......did you or didn't you???!! make the tide at Portland. It seems that if you made the tide you may miss out on the next doldrums. If not, your sense of humour may wear thin nearer Plymouth if forecast is correct for the wind to go again.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's going well, even the shed is in sight! Good luck for the finish.
ReplyDeleteChris
Guessing you're at anchor and catching some sleep until 12:30 ish when the tide turns, along with the rest of the fleet as no-one is moving on the tracker.
ReplyDeleteHope you get some breeze when the tide turns back, if not happy rowing!!!
It looks like its going to be a really close finish and I will look forward to your de-brief.
ReplyDeleteThe remarks were definitely non-pc and I shall be seeking a substantial pay-out for damages and offence-taken.
