Azores and Back Yacht Race 2011

After Sam White and Richard Raistricks efforts on the race to the Azores the race home will see Sam's first solo ocean race. The competion comprises some of the finest sailors in the UK and thanks to a great race here Sam is still well within sight of a podium finish. This is Yacht racing at its best and of course anything could happen in the next 1250 miles.

Hard going & relentless.....

Hard going on leg two as we consistently bash into a big Atlantic swell whilst sailing into the wind all the way up the Irish coast. So far sleep has proved virtually impossible as the boat crashes off large waves and gets flattened every now then by the occasional 26 knot gust!
The boat is holding up well despite the weather with the only casualty so far being a small tear in the mainsail.
Forecast looking like no change for the next 24 hours - sense of humour compulsory on this leg!

  1. Hi Bruv and Sam watching you daily. Get home from work, dinner then check out your position. Seems like you have done a bit of catching up this leg. Doesn't sound like too much fun though - and you paid for the pleasure!!!
